Fifth in-person meeting of the GCEW

The Global Commission on the Economics of Water held its fifth in-person meeting in Zurich from 19-21 January 2024.

The objectives of the retreat were to share progress on the research workplan outlined in the July retreat, and to debate how various components may come together in one narrative integrating ecological and economic sustainability, efficiency, equity and social justice:

  • Clarify research questions and hypotheses,
  • Articulate tentative messages (to be validated by research)
  • Debate a way forward (without compromising the research)
  • Set a roadmap to impact and beyond (key messages, events, launch & coalitions for action pathways).
